Art & Design
At Goodyers End Primary all children work creatively to explore their artistic ideas and record their experiences through experimenting and using sketch books which stay with children throughout their journey at school.
Art enables children to develop their imagination and share their ideas and experiences through drawing, painting and sculpture, by using a range of materials and developing skills. Through studying the work of great artists, craft makers and designers, children will develop confidence to make links to their artwork and evaluate and analyse artists work by using the language of art, craft and design.
Children have opportunities to link their artwork and develop skills through links to topic themes, religious events and other subject areas. Art allows children to be aware of the world around them and develops their confidence and self-esteem.
We showcase children’s artwork on displays around school and also enter their artwork into local competitions throughout the year.
Attached below is the Knowledge and Skills Progression document for Art & Design. This details the areas children will cover in various year groups.
