Design & Technology
At Goodyers End Primary, Design and Technology plays an inspiring and important role in the curriculum. Design and Technology is for the most part, a practical and creative subject, where children are able to design, make and evaluate products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts.
It supports children with developing an inquisitive and questioning mind, drawing in skills from maths, science, engineering, computing and art. Children learn that these skills can be carried through all areas of the curriculum.
Our Design and Technology curriculum enables children to acquire and develop relevant technical vocabulary with clear vocabulary links to science and maths. Through the evaluation of past and present designs including their own, children are able to develop their understanding of the impact of designs on daily life and the wider world.
Attached below is the Knowledge and Skills Progression document for Design & Technology. This details the areas children will cover in various year groups.
