History

At Goodyers End Primary we aim to teach pupils to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of the past. We inspire pupils’ curiosity and equip them to think critically by engaging in evidence from a range of sources. We challenge perspectives, helping pupils to learn from the changes of history.

Children will travel through time from the Stone Age all the way to modern day history and will discover how people and places have changed throughout history.

In our school, we have artefacts from a range of key historical events in the past and provide opportunities to engage in trips to further develop children’s historical knowledge alongside having visits from local historians.

Attached below is the Knowledge and Skills Progression document for History.  This details the areas children will cover in various year groups.
